I attended the CHS varsity baseball game yesterday. A lot of offense but unfortunately the Cougars lost to TJ 15-10. I was standing near Vinny's statue and #12 from the Cougars was running back to the dug out after retrieving a foul ball. He stopped and took the time to give Vinny a fist bump! It is obvious the character message the coaches are preaching is working, great job #12! For all you fans make sure you give Vinny a fist bump when you arrive at the field and before you leave. We all need to remember the importance of character! Go Cougars!

DIRT Memorial
In July of 2017 we unveiled the Catoctin High School Vinny DIRT Award & Memorial. This award and memorial was established to help teach our youth the importance of character on and off the field!
There is a statue of Vinny at the Catoctin baseball field, as players, coaches and fans enter the field they give Vinny a first bump to remind them of the importance of good character.
What does DIRT mean?
* D is for dynamic. A dynamic person is someone that really makes a difference in the world, who does something that changes people or things!
* I is for integrity. Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking!
* R is for respect. Respect your opponent, respect your teammates, respect yourself and respect the game!
* T is for true. A true person can be counted on to be there for their friends and teammates in the good times and the difficult times!
Each year the player that exemplifies the DIRT character will be recognized with the CGS Baseball Vinny DIRT Award. All winners have their names placed on a brick that is placed at the memorial statue.
We hope you stop by the field to support the Cougars and check out this amazing memorial!

Vinny's Ride 2018
The 2018 Vinny's Ride will be held on Saturday April 21st, rain or shine! Location Garfield UMC 13628 Stottlemyer Rd. Sign ups begin at 10am and the ride begins at 11am. Cost is $25 per person and includes a shirt while supplies last. If you want more info send an email to vinnysride@hotmail.com . We hope to see you all again this year!

CHS Baseball Vinny Memorial Golf Tournament
One of our events is the CHS Baseball Alumni Vinny Healy Memorial Golf Tournament. You do not have to be an alumni, our tournament is open to all!
The 2018 tournament will be held on Saturday October 20th, sign ups at 9am tee off at 10am. The tournament is at Carroll Valley Golf Course (Ski Liberty).
Each year one of the many prizes we give is for the best dressed golfer. This year is our 5th tournament so we are changing up the best dressed requirements. This year to win the prize you must be wearing a kilt! A special prize will be given to the best dressed man and best dressed woman. Mitch Altoff has won every year so we hope everyone will participate and give Mitch some competition!
